Engineering Document Management [as opposed to "EDM" which stands for Electronic Document Management] is the management of Technical Documents within an engineering environment.

This can include ones as diverse as:

  • Ship Building
  • Medical Equipment
  • Complex Buildings such as Head Offices, Factories, Airports, etc
  • Aerospace

All of these require the management of Technical Documents, and the associated correspondence and queries etc. In some areas the management of the origination documents is more important than others. For this a CAD management system is required.

In others such as Construction, the distribution of Technical Documents for Approval and the Construction is vital, so a different type of software namely CEMDC is required.
