Getting Support
There are two items in the TDOC Stable for Joomla. Both are very simple - they are:
- TDOC Facebook Display - mod_tdoc_fbk - a module which is designed to show a facebook page in a sidebar, and
- TDOC Google Map - {tdocgmap} - a plugin which is designed to show one or more kml files rendered in a GoogleMap by Google in your article or category.
We upgraded the tdocplus.co.uk domain to https: This has NOT broken the upgrade links for either of the two TDOC extensions.
Please email
- A description of the problem. Please include yur Joomla Version, and PHP Version.
- The address of your web site - so I can see the problem.
The Name
TDOC.exe was the name of the executable for the first version of what became a major solution for Construction Engineering Management Document Control. See these sites:
- TDOC.com - the Technical web site - which uses Joomla.
- TDOC.net - the sales web site - an old site [from 2007] using Java Script. Innovative in that it has a "sticky" header, and "breadcrumbs".
After being used on many hundreds of major projects some up to £500 Million in value, TDOC had a life of nearly thirty years and went through four major rewrites [so five versions] from DOS to Windows to Web Based. Support IS something that I understand !
The Support Available
PLEASE remember that I do not support writing a KML file, or how to create a Facebook Page - although I am happy to help.
At 78 I will respond as soon as I can ! The source code for each modules has its own page. PLEASE Read the appropriate one - you MAY find the answer there.
I am making my modules available simply because I needed to develop them for www.linnpark.org.uk as the ones I was using came to the end of their life, but Linn Park prospers.
Installation Notes
TDOC Gmap
a) Select Plugins:
Search for "TDOC", Enable Plugin
Click on Plugin, and under Options, enter your Google Maps API Key.
b) Create an article
Try the typical usage {tdocgmap . . . . }
The syntax is {tdocmap position width=666 height=666 kml='http://domain/filepath.kml'}
Typical usage as follows:
{tdocgmap kml='http://tdocplus.co.uk/lp_routes/lp_snuff_white_west.kml' width=500 height=500 left}
You may optionally leave out the single quotes round the kml path.
If you leave out the position, width, or height then the defaults will be used.
The options maybe in any order.
The default alignment is centre on the page, otherwise use left or right.
If you want a printable map to fit a whole page use print as the position.
Please do NOT forget to enable the extension, and obtain your own GoogleMaps authorisation.
TDOC Facebook
Install from Web.
Search for "TDOC"
Select TDOC Facebook Display and install as usual.
Select Extensions, search for "TDOC", Make sure the status is enabled [shows a green tick].

Click the module, and Enter a facebook page URL e.g. facebook.com/linnpark, and

Select Menu Assignment e.g. "On all pages" from dropdown list
Known Bugs
TDOC Gmap
- If the link to the kml is put into your browser, and it cannot be downloaded and saved, no map will display.
- If yo ujse PageBreaks there may be a problem with the licencing - see https://tdocplus.co.uk/0a_Empty502/
- If you are using another plugin which has a Google Maps API key, then Google's API will stop the second plugin [in the same article] from working.
- If you are in Joomla 3, and are using Regular Labs "Modals" plugin, there is a conflict.
TDOC Facebook
- Google Chrome for Windows 7 has a bug in it whih prevents the facebook content from loading.
- It appears that the latest versions of Apple Safari suffer from the same bug.
- Please ensure that versions prior to 4.3.1 are manually uninstalled.
Joomla Version 6
What we have tested, and what works.
Version Joomla_6.0.0-alpha1-dev-Development-Full
This was installed on the web server on 5th January 2025 running PHP 8.3.20
Everything worked as expected - and this included JCE, Akeeba Backup, and Admin Tools.
The web server upgrade to PHP 8.3.24 caused the test site to fail with a 500 Red Screen of death.
Locally we are running PHP 8.3.6.
Version Joomla_6.0.0-beta1-Beta-Full
NO other extensions were installed, and no changes made to the default settings.
The first test was made on the local pc under PHP 8.3.6. Running Windows 11 Pro version 24H2, and WAMP 3.3.5 64 bit.
TDOC Facebook works fine
TDOC GMap works fine. Do NOT forget to use "127.0.0.1" as location instead of "localhost"
The second test was made on the Fast Hosting Direct web server under PHP 8.3.24: see here https://tdocplus.co.uk/0b_Empty601/
TDOC Facebook works fine
TDOC GMap works fine.
NOTED: Although Akeeba Backup installed on both the above local site, when any operation was attempted, it failed with an Error.
Testing has now stopped - awaiting a stable build for both Akeeba and Joomla 6 Beta.
Akeeba are addressing this bug: https://www.akeeba.com/support/akeeba-backup/42197-j6-errors.html
Attempted to install Sourcerer from Regular Labs - installed it said ok, and then red screnn of death.
