The spring has sprung the grass has ris I wonder where the birdies is ?

From where does spring come from?” I ask

the plum flowers do not reply

but in their midst

a warbler sings

Teishin
Tr. Abe and Haskel

Like the light delicate swirling mists of an early spring morning, there lies below the noisy and distracting nature of today a more mellow tone that intermingles with all that we do. Subtle, restrained, beyond description…the greater the meaning of things, the less words can say. But read Teishin’s poem, let it stay with you for a while, write it down and read it now and again until something of the spirit of its underlying tone, starts to seep into the mind; she opens a door and then steps aside, allowing us to pass through. The exquisite beauty of breeze and blossoms, the refreshing clarity of moon and snow – only the tranquil can surely enjoy these things.

And some fabulous photos from Aileen Milne taken on 6th April 2024 . . . Thanks !
